Video: Nafferton in Boom - bomb found near village rail station

Villagers who were digging flowerbeds for a village in bloom competition sparked a major incident when they unearthed a Second World War bomb.

Army explosive experts were called to Nafferton, near Driffield in the East Riding of Yorkshire, after villagers found the “inert” two-pound aircraft bomb beneath a grass verge.

The area near railway tracks was cordoned off to prevent vibrations from trains setting the device off, Humberside Police said.

A photo was sent to Army bomb disposal crews who took the device away.
